Most water heater failures don't happen overnight. They build up slowly - a small leak at the top, mineral deposits eating away at the tank, corrosion spreading where you can't see it. By the time hot water stops showing up, the damage is already done. That's exactly what we walked into on this job.

The old A.O. Smith unit had been leaking from the top connections for a while. Water had worked its way down the tank and pooled at the base, leaving behind the kind of rust and debris that tells you this wasn't a quick fix. The tank was done. There was no repairing it.

We pulled the old unit and did a full tank water heater installation with a new State ProLite gas heater. But we didn't stop at just swapping the tank. We brought the entire setup up to current code - that meant a new drip pan, seismic straps, expansion tank, dedicated shut-off valve, gas line upgrade, and a grounding wire. Every piece of this system is now where it needs to be, not just functional but safe and compliant.

That's the part homeowners don't always think about. A lot of older installs are missing components that code now requires. When we do a water heater replacement, we treat it as an opportunity to make sure everything around that unit is solid too - not just the heater itself.

The result is a clean, properly supported install with reliable hot water and nothing left to worry about. No shortcuts, no skipped steps. Just a system that's built to last and installed the right way.
