Kitchen Disposal Replacement with New ABS Drain Piping

A leaky under-sink setup is one of those problems that sneaks up on you. It starts as a minor drip, and before long you're dealing with water damage, warped cabinet floors, or worse. That's exactly the kind of situation we stepped in to fix here.

We pulled out the old kitchen disposal and replaced it with a new InSinkErator Evolution unit - a solid, reliable model that handles food waste quietly and efficiently. But we didn't stop there. The worn metal drain piping was part of the problem, so we swapped it out for new ABS piping throughout. ABS is durable, corrosion-resistant, and a much better long-term solution than the old metal lines that were in place.

Here's what we ended up with: a clean, properly configured drain line running from the new disposal through a fresh p-trap, all connected up tight with no compromised joints or aging hardware in the mix. Everything flows the way it should, and the cabinet underneath is dry.

This kind of job is a good reminder that a disposal replacement isn't always just about the unit itself. The piping condition matters just as much. If you're already pulling things apart to install new equipment, it makes sense to address anything else that's worn or borderline - so you're not back under there in six months dealing with a slow leak.

A leaky or failing disposal is worth taking seriously sooner rather than later. Small water issues under the sink tend to get worse, not better, on their own.
